Student Spotlight: Kolton Flick

Kolton Flick: A Trade Warriors HVAC Training Success Story  Kolton Flick was a successful Staff Seargeant in the Army when the AC in his home broke down. Being the handy man that he is, he took a stab at fixing it himself. After successfully fixing his unit, he started learning more about how to optimize his system and do his own repairs.   When it came time to decide what he wanted to do as a Veteran, he knew he wanted to continue learning and servicing HVAC equipment. This led him to join the Trade Warriors program by Trane Technologies and our training partner RightTek HVAC.   During this HVAC training program, students spend 8 weeks learning and servicing Trane and American Standard equipment. They are also required to pass the EPA and NATE Ready-To-Work Certifications. Upon graduation from our Fort Bragg (previously Fort Liberty) location, Kolton wanted to take his family back to where he was from – Blair, WI.   During this HVAC training, our recr...

Student Spotlight: Bethany Waters

Student Spotlight: Bethany Waters      Bethany Waters from Indianapolis, Indiana, knew from a young age that she wanted to join the military, and her determination only grew stronger after the events of September 11, 2001. During her time in the military, Bethany honed invaluable skills such as problem-solving, adaptability, and time management. Reflecting on her over 20 years of service in the Army, she shares, "I think the most valuable thing I’ve learned is that hard work can overcome any obstacle and what you achieve/receive is equal to the effort you put in."      As she considered her post-military career options, Bethany knew she didn't want a traditional office job. After discovering HVAC careers, she decided to enroll in the Trade Warriors Program. For soldiers and veterans contemplating a career in HVAC, Bethany encourages them to take the plunge but also advises thorough research into the field.   It’s more complex than most people assu...

Recruiter Spotlight: Roland Larson

Meet Roland! Roland Larson is from Texas and has a background in recruiting and HR and started working with the Army as one of the Career Skills Program coordinators. From there, he was approached to work with the Trade Warriors Program in Fort Hood! This is Roland’s first position working with the HVAC industry, and he is excited to be a part of a program that is changing lives for veterans in the industry. When in class with students, Roland enjoys observing the hands-on training with the HVAC systems. Our program only allows 20 students per cohort, per location because we have 20 HVAC systems with which to train. Everyone has ample opportunity to practice on the actual equipment they’ll be working on. To those starting a career as an HVAC technician, Roland advises,  Be a sponge and learn everything you can from your experience.
